Our Kaupapa

We acknowledge children as our greatest taonga, recognising every moment as an opportunity for learning and every achievement will be celebrated.

Our high Kaiako to Child ratio enables us to remain true to our centre philosophy and learning objectives.

Our Kaiako are committed to nurturing our tamariki so they can grow strong in identity, language and culture. To develop the hinengaro (cognitive), tinana (physical), whatumanawa (emotional) and wairua (spiritual) dimensions of our tamariki, we will provide a home away from home, and make meaningful connections with parents, whānau and community.

At Nature’s Cove, we believe in the environment as the third teacher. This means we create flexible surroundings that undergo frequent changes, to provide endless opportunities for our tamariki to explore, experiment, develop ideas, and test their working theories.

Relationships with Papatūānuku (mother earth) are important to us. Our connections are proven through our everyday teaching and rituals such as discussions on the growth of sunflowers, the falling of leaves or the days of wind and rain. We place a high value on, and treasure, the learning and exploration our children can experience beyond our fence through our frequent excursions.
